Terrestrial Orchids

They are found in places as diverse as the hot, dry Australian deserts, to the shadier and gentler climates of temperate woodlands and grasslands. In North America, orchids such as the delightful Cypripedium calceolus grow in the cool forests, and other Cypripedium species are found in areas of Russia extending to the very edge of the Arctic Circle.
